Comic inking techniques are rooted in the fine arts.
In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Focus comic will be launching a free online Lunar New Year art festival for autistic and special needs kids (ages 7-14).
On February 6 and 13 2022, Focus comic will offer free virtual art workshops on the art of Sumi-e painting. Students will learn how to draw and paint a tiger and a panda using traditional Asian inking techniques on Zoom!
Our students will learn about Tigers, Pandas, the natural environment and our eco system. They will also receive a custom certificate of achievement for completing our Focus comic Sumi-E Beginners Art program. In addition to the virtual classes on zoom, there will be an in person graduation ceremony in March to celebrate the students achievements, where there will be prizes. The students art will be displayed as part of an online art exhibition, and it will be displayed at the graduation ceremony. The graduation date will be on 5th March.

Sunday 6 February:
How to paint a Tiger: Sumi E Art workshop
Class duration: 60 minutes (There will be Part 1 and Part 2 of the class on the same day).
Group A:
Part 1 Class Start time: 2pm.
Short break: 2.40pm.
Part 2 Class Start time: 3pm.
End: Approx 3.20pm depending on the group’s pace of work.
The scans of the students art work are due after class.
Group B:
Group B will be introduced once Group A is full.
Sunday 13 February:
How to paint a Panda: Sumi E Art workshop

Start time: 2pm.
End time: 2.40pm
