Hero award recipient

Congrats to SN James Deck US Navy reserve 1985-1993 for being our United Humanities Project Hero award recipient within the US Navy category we look forward to honoring him at our Heroes event May 2. James Deck joined the Navy in 1985 between his junior and senior year of high school and went on to serve eight years in the reserves. He is a third‑generation Sailor, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and his mother. His son later joined the Navy as well, becoming the fourth generation to serve, and he hopes that among his seven grandchildren there will one day be a fifth. During his time in the Navy, he achieved the rank of E‑3 and worked as a storekeeper, a role now recognized as part of logistics. Today, he is a business leader who credits his military experience with teaching him discipline, attention to detail, and the true meaning of teamwork. Serving his country was an honor he carries with pride.
