Congrats to Charlie Maschinot, for becoming our latest autistic trading card intern to receive his own trading card. Charlie is based in Phoenix Arizona and is 11 years old. He loves to draw and really loves the positive portrayal of an autistic super hero through this international comic book.
Many thanks to Douglas Hebert and Yvonne Wan for coaching Charlie at the Focus Comic art camp. The humanitarian project is intended to help autistic artists fulfill their creative potential and give autistic individuals greater representation within the comic industry and society at large.
Creator Yvonne Wan fulfilled Charlies dream of becoming an official trading card artist for Focus, and having his own trading card, by coaching him, inking and coloring his art.
Focus comic features one of the worlds first autistic super heroes, art by industry professionals and interns with autism. Focus is part of a humanitarian project. The social initiatives mission is to maintain dignity for autistic individuals by removing the stigma associated with it. It also aims to support autistic talent and the arts. Art is therapeutic for everyone, especially those with special needs. The proceeds from the sale of the book and merchandize goes towards raising autism awareness including the cost of operating a free art camp for autistic kids in Phoenix.
