Focus Police Academy In Person and Zoom Class

Focus Police Academy is currently in session. We have 31 autistic and special needs participants in this art program so far. Our students were divided into different groups, in the format of individual and group in person classes; and individual and group zoom classes online.

Our students honored traffic officer Defazio of Surprise PD for his service by drawing a portrait of him and his Police motor cycle. Check out our Students art work:

Our advanced students learned how to draw using the grid system which incorporates math, physics and geometry into the lesson plan. Our beginner students learned how to draw basic shapes and character design using traditional and digital media. Our students did great.

Check out our highlights film in relation to one of our in person group classes in Surprise. Our students had a great time engaging with the arts. Thank you Rise for providing extra support:

Check out our zoom class highlights film with Surprise Police Department, where we honored Traffic officer Defazio for his service. Traffic officer Defazio talked about the important hero work that Surprise PD perform in the community. He also talked about his role, performed in class demonstrations and gave our students a tour of the station. Our students had an amazing time learning about the important role of law enforcement in the community, and they also enjoyed working on their art presentation skills in class. Thank you Officer Defazio and Sgt Johnson for giving our students positive feedback and encouragement in relation to their art. We thank Surprise PD for supporting autistic and special needs individuals in the community:

Our students look forward to their in person graduation event at Surprise Police Station this Saturday, where they will explore a full range of special police and SWAT vehicles, motor cycles, drones, bomb detonation robots, technology and equipment. They also look forward to meeting local Police heroes including the SWAT team and Chief Benny Pina of Surprise Police Department. Our graduates will receive a challenge coin each on stage, plus a custom certificate of achievement featuring our students art that resembles a Focus comic cover:

This 2 week Focus police academy art program in Surprise is partially funded by a City of Surprise Art grant. Thank you Surprise PD and Rise for their support.
