Focus comics are proud to announce that it will be launching its free Christmas hero art program and artist of the year awards in Maricopa commencing Saturday 6th December 2025. The program is for autistic and or special needs kids/ youth.

Students will get the opportunity to honor our heroes through art online and in person. Student will also get the opportunity to meet celebrities and industry professionals through this program. Students may chose to participate in one class or more. Students will learn comic book pencilling and inking techniques. Students will also get the option to learn how to create sculpey sculptures (great for developing students fine motor skills and improve tactile defensiveness and meet their sensory needs). Confirmed celebrity for this program include Kevin McNally known for Pirates of the Caribbean , Dr Who and Down town Abbey. Confirmed industry professional include Yvonne Wan, Creator of Focus comics featuring one of the worlds first autistic super heroes.

The in person graduation event takes place December 13th 2025 where students will receive a custom certificate of achievement with their art on it, plus gifts. 3 students will receive an Artist of the year Trophy. We will also hand out a digital drawing device to one lucky artist at the event. Thank you Arizona Department of Public Safety for sending Sgt Elliott Ness State Trooper who will be one of our special guests at the event. He will bring a marked vehicle for the children to explore and take photos.

We will have a class of 2025 photo with local heroes. We have a photographer booked for the event who will offer the families a complimentary photoshoot of their child and family unit at the event for free. There will be no watermarks on the photos. We want our students to have special pictures to look back on their happy childhood when they are older.

We want to publicly invite veterans and those who keep our communities safe (first responders and active military) to be in our students class photo to uplift the children. Please attend in uniform if you are able to. Those who protect and serve, do not need to inform us of their planned attendance, although it would be helpful if you can drop our event organizer a quick email to manage our expectations [email protected] .
