Focus Comics community outreach at Garage Dreams in Mesa Arizona

Focus comics had a fun community outreach event at Garage Dreams in Mesa Arizona yesterday.

In preparation for the Focus comic community outreach event, Audrey Lam and Carson Shuler, our young autistic interns enjoyed learning how to create digital coloring sheets using the digital Wacom drawing devices they received as gifts. Our autistic interns were delighted to have their comic art featured at the event promoting autistic talent and autism acceptance.

Carson Shuler had the pleasure of being a art teacher assistant intern at the event also, by teaching kids how to fulfill their creative potential by learning how to use water colors for the coloring sheets. We enjoyed providing free art programming and gifts for art participants at our booth.

We want to thank Garage dreams and AZ trackers for including us as part of their fun community event, and being able to promote autism acceptance at our booth. We also want to thank everyone who came out to give Carson our autistic intern positive feedback and encouragement in relation to his art and dream of becoming a published comic artist.

Our internship programs are important in helping young autistic artists develop professional skills to help them pursue their dreams in becoming a comic artist, build their skills, self confidence and esteem in reaching their life goals. 85% of autistic individuals with a college degree cannot find work. We are hoping to change this through our free child development programs, representation of Focus the autistic super hero through mass media platforms, and internship programs for autistic individuals. We have served thousands of autistic and special needs kids in the past 10 years, enriching the lives of autistic and special needs kids and providing them hope of a better future.
