We are proud to celebrate autism awareness month by launching a month of free art programming for children of local heroes (military and first responders) plus autistic and special needs students.
We are 2 weeks into our Hero art program. This week we focused on serving autistic and special needs kids in Avondale, Litchfield Park and Glendale.
This week we held multiple one to one, and group classes both online and in person. We want to thank Litchfield Elementary School district and Brighton Charter School for inviting Yvonne Wan, Professional Industry Comic Creator and Artist to their school again this year. We also want to thank Brighton Charter School for inviting Yvonne Wan back to their school this April as a guest speaker and guest teacher in May 2025 during their international cultural week of arts and culture programming. The kids really loved learning about Chinese new year, culture and Sumi-e painting techniques last year and look forward to learning from Ms Wan again.

This week, our autistic and special needs students were presented with coloring sheets of Focus the autistic super hero driving a Rural Metro; Glendale, Avondale and Surprise fire truck. They were also presented with coloring sheets of our Luke Air Force F35 fighter jet, and MSCO autistic Pony that Yvonne had drawn for the children. Yvonne Wan, our Focus comic creator introduced our students how to apply different water color techniques, including gradation, textures and layers (Wet on Wet and Wet on Dry brush techniques). Some of our students participated in the traditional medium technical drawing class, which included learning how to draw a fire truck, US Air Force F35 Fighter Jet and MSCO autistic Pony.
