Malekith, our autistic intern attends his first comic book signing

We recently had a community outreach event to celebrate the publication of Malekith’s variant cover. Malekith is one of the world’s youngest autistic comic strip artists to get his own variant cover published in an autistic super hero comic. The signing event was held at Malekith’s local church so that his church family could be there to support his art and ask for his autograph. Everyone was extremely supportive of our autism awareness social cause and his art.

The cover is drawn by Focus Comic’s autistic intern Malekith, age 12. Malekith is part of an internship program for autistic kids, where certified art teacher Douglas Hebert coaches the interns to help them fulfill their creative potential. The internship program is sponsored by Office Depot, who gave Malekith and also Tabidi their own variant covers in support of autism awareness and acceptance. We thank them for fulfilling our interns dreams.

Autistic art is currently under represented in the art industry and so this program promotes diversity and inclusion.

The variant cover may be considered a historical artifact one day, given Malekith’s young age and accomplishment. The cover is colored by legendary Spiderman colorist Paul Mounts who has a big heart towards autism awareness and acceptance.
